Evan Parker / Wes Neal / Joe Sorbara

British saxophonist Evan Parker is simply one of the world’s premier musical improvisers. During his February, 2009 visit to Toronto, as a guest of the AIMToronto (Association of Improvising Musicians Toronto) Interface Series, Parker’s exceptional trio - with Toronto’s Wes Neal (double bass) and Joe Sorbara (drums) - was recorded by Barnyard’s Jean Martin. Evan Parker returns to Toronto to launch the trio’s disc, At Somewhere There (Barnyard 321), in which, as Toronto’s Alan Stanbridge says in his liner note, “it’s the sustained intensity of the performance that is most striking, indicating a depth of musical understanding that simply belies the fact that this was the first time these musicians had played together.” The reunion of this stellar trio should only produce music of even more intensity. It also marks the first date of an eight-city, ten-concert tour in Eastern Canada by Evan Parker.
