Lara Solnicki

Honoured as a "world class jazz singer" for her "spellbinding voice" and "boldly unique style" (−Everett. R. Davis, All About Jazz), Canadian jazz vocalist, poet and composer Lara Solnicki is one of Jazz icon Greg Osby's Inner Circle Music label artists.

Praised for "her outstanding musicianship", (−Thomas Cunniffe, Jazz History Online), for her "poetic, impressionistic lyrics" (−Jazziz Magazine) and "understanding of the most subtle nuances in lyrics and melody" (−Stanley Péan, Espace Musique/Radio Canada), Lara was 1 of 3 finalists in the Révélations Radio- Canada 2014 competition, jazz artist category. Her 2014 sophomore album "Whose Shadow?" (Inner Circle Music), has been #1 on Radio Canada and CBC jazz charts, and in the top 20 on international jazz web radio charts. Her debut CD "A Meadow in December" (2010) continues to receive generous airplay on radio stations across Canada.

A classically trained singer with a four octave range, Lara originally intended a career in opera, receiving a BA from The Glenn Gould School/ Royal Conservatory of Music where she was the recipient of numerous scholarships, studying voice and piano in the Performance Diploma and Artist Diploma programs. Since 2010, she has been a very active jazz and creative music performer. A published poet born into a family of professional writers, Lara launched her first book of poems and experimental prose in fall 2006, "Disassembled Stars" (Lyrical Myrical Press). Her poetry has since appeared in international and national anthologies and magazines. Lara’s has been a member of Christine Duncan’s improvising Element Choir since 2009. She is fluent in French.
