Taylor Cook Quintet

Taylor is a 22-year old saxophone player who recently completed the Jazz Performance Program on saxophone, flute and clarinet at the University of Toronto. Originally from Penticton, BC, Taylor now lives in Toronto.

Recently Taylor mounted a third major tour of British Colombia bringing the newly formed Taylor Cook Quintet from Toronto to 4 venues on the west coast after a concert in Toronto in June. Taylor has released 3 CD’s as a leader the most recent of which was a live recording of his 4th year recital at the University of Toronto recorded on February 14th, 2011 at the Faculty of Music Building at U of T. The 10 track recording features the Taylor Cook Quartet playing both new material as well as the 'hits' from previous recordings.

Taylor currently plays throughout the Toronto area with his own Quartet and Quinet, the Toronto Jazz Orchestra, and many other musical projects. For a list of upcoming performances, visit the “Gigs” page of his website.

In February 2010 Taylor organized, managed and successfully accomplished a 9 day tour of the west coast during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games. This was the first time Taylor traveled with his group from Toronto to the west coast. The tour had performances in Victoria, Vancouver, Kelowna and Penticton with a kickoff concert at the Rex in Toronto with guest Tim Ries. During the tour The Taylor Cook Quartet conducted 9 clinics at 8 high schools in BC promoting the jazz studies program at the University of Toronto.
