Big Band Slam

Each year the Big Band Slam brings together high school bands from across the Greater Toronto Area for an afternoon of trumpet blasting, trombone sliding, sax squealing excitement. The Slam is not a competition; it is instead a chance to showcase some of the outstanding music being made by high school music students across the city.

The 2017 Big Band Slam takes place on Thursday, June 29, 2-5 pm at The Rex Hotel, and features bands from Martingrove Collegiate Institute, Don Mills Collegiate Institute and the High Rendition Youth Jazz Band, along with special guests the Hart House Jazz Ensemble. Acclaimed trumpeter Jason Logue will serve as special guest for the Slam, rehearsing with each band in advance and performing with each band at the Slam.

For more information, visit the Big Band Slam concert page.

The Big Band Slam is a free, all-ages event, and is generously supported by the Ken Page Memorial Trust and The Asper Foundation.
