Congratulations, and here we go…

Something about keeping New Year's resolutions and blogging more or something…

Anyway, three quick items of business.

Congratulations go out to everyone nominated for a 2015 JUNO Award. In the jazz categories, it's quite an interesting mix of music - from trios to big band, from straight ahead to far out, from swing to Cuban; but Toronto artists (including engineers, producers and designers) are well represented across all categories. If you're not already familiar with all of the artists on the list, I encourage you to check them out. You won't be disappointed! The complete list is here.

Special Projects
Congratulations also go out to the four local musicians chosen for this year's TD Discovery Series Special Projects. Through the Special Projects initiative, each musician will get marketing perks from Toronto Downtown Jazz and a bursary to offset marketing costs. We're looking forward to seeing them in action:

More information about the TD Discovery Series Special Projects is available here.

We've been teasing you about an upcoming show announcement. It's still coming…tune in on Monday for details. What I can talk about today, in addition to the four Special Projects shows listed above, is the return of the Israeli Jazz Showcase. Presented as part of a more general Spotlight on Israeli Culture, this year's Showcase features some fantastic talent from at home and abroad: the Kobi Hass Quartet, the Guy Mintus Trio and, in her first Toronto appearance under her own name, Anat Cohen with her quartet. Complete details are here. Join us March 18 at The Rex!

P.S. - No that is not my thumb.
