What's so good about A.R.C.C.?

Artist:

So first of all, what is A.R.C.C.?

What's so good about the Montuno Police?

Take six of Canada's top musicians with a foundation in jazz, mix in influences from Afro-Cuban, Brazilian and Arabic musical traditions, add great writing and exciting soloing and what do you get? The all-night dance party that is Rick Shadrach Lazar and Montuno Police. And this Saturday night, as part of the Geary Lane Jazz Series, they'll celebrate their 25th anniversary.

A.R.C.C.

A.R.C.C. began many moons ago as a collective called Women With Horns, at that time co-lead by Ingrid Stitt, Sarah McElcheran, Carrie Chesnutt and Colleen Allen. The idea was to create an opportunity for four busy horn players to play together, and it was modeled after the Count Basie Band - collective grooving, horn riffing and swinging. Arrangements were written with features for each individual player in mind, leaving lots of room for instant riffs and backing horn parts, catapulted by a deep-swinging rhythm section.

What's so good about Sinal Aberto?

It seems silly to say, but I sometimes forget just how good the musicians are who live in this city.

Jeremy Ledbetter Trio

Forged in a cauldron of raging, inspiring contemporary jazz, the Jeremy Ledbetter Trio pushes the boundaries of jazz and world music, providing an undiluted display of rampaging energy and captivating musicianship. Audiences must exercise caution. People who see this band are rarely the same again. If the Jeremy Ledbetter Trio were an inanimate object it would be a runaway train.

The Cosmodemonic Brass Band

The Cosmodemonic Brass Band is made up of some of Toronto's hottest young players. Drawing on the fire and grit of a NOLA street band, they throw their weight into roots classics and modern hits. Featuring Tom Richards of the Heavyweights Brass Band and members of the T Dot Bangerz, this band is not to be missed!
