Cafe Cubano

Led by piano player Jorge Betancourt and featuring some of the city's top Cuban players, Cafe Cubano is one Toronto's most popular salsa and timba bands.

Luisito Orbegoso & Moda Eterna

Moda Eterna is headed by one of Toronto’s most in-demand musicians, Peruvian-born Luis "Luisito" Orbegoso. Moda Eterna plays classic salsa that has withstood the test of time. Moda Eterna delivers hard-hitting 80s salsa that highlights the Ray Barretto repetoire.

Brownman

Born on the small Caribbean island of Trinidad, schooled in New York and now based in Toronto, Brownman is one of the most in demand, young jazz studio trumpet players in Canada today. He is also an accomplished composer/arranger and the recipient of the 2002 Canadian National Jazz Award (NJA) for "Jazz Composer of the Year", also clocking in as first runner-up for "Jazz Trumpet Player of the Year"; his highly acclaimed latin-jazz group CRUZAO was also nominated at the NJAs in 2002, 2003 & 2004 for "Electric Jazz Group of the Year".

Laura Fernandez & Don Naduriak

I was born in Madrid, Spain and immigrated to Canada as a child not speaking English whatsoever. As a child my earliest memories were those relating to music and art. My father who was a fine art painter and an architect would sit me on his lap and play name that tune with many classical pieces of music! Watching him paint and listening to classical music and opera as well as many other types of music was what my childhood was rich with. Soon enough I was also drawing, painting and playing music.

Eliana Cuevas

After a decade of intensive performing, writing and composing, Venezuelan born Toronto based Eliana Cuevas is rising from the ranks to acclaim as one of Canada’s finest world and jazz music performers and creators. She has released three albums in Canada under her own name -- Cohesion (2002), Ventura (2004) and Vidas (2007) and also one album in Europe -- Luna Llena (2009). She has toured extensively across the country bringing her music to various concert halls and Festivals in Nova Scotia, Ontario, Yukon, Alberta, Quebec, Saskatchewan and British Columbia.

Jane Bunnett

Five-time Juno Award winner Jane Bunnett has turned her bands and recordings into showcases for the finest musical talent from Canada, the US, and Cuba. She has been nominated for three Grammy Awards, received The Order of Canada, The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, and The Premier’s Award for Excellence.

Sambacana

Sambacana is an exciting Brazilian music ensemble reflecting the richness and diversity of a new generation of Canadian artists. Band members Aline Morales, John Yelland, Wagner Petrilli, Luis Guerra and Alan Hetherington have been performing together for Toronto's growing Brazilian community and throughout Canada to high critical acclaim. Their melding of folkloric, popular and jazz idioms are now captivating audiences everywhere. Sambacana has just completed its first CD, Nós, with guest maestro and mentor Filó Machado.
