Jazz Money has been a working trio for over three years, performing their unique style and repertoire at venues and street corners across the city. “The Further Adventures of Jazz Money” is the group’s first foray into the hip-hop genre, and will feature the trio collaborating with up and coming hip-hop artists. The music will be created through a process of collective improvisation and composition to create something entirely original; this concert will represent the first time most of the rappers involved have performed live with an acoustic jazz group.

A TD Discovery Series Special Project.

Jazz Money is a Toronto based trio that began busking in the summer of 2013, bringing fresh sounds to the streets. Embracing jazz, world folk songs, hip-hop and more, Jazz Money has turned heads with their unique and infectious sound.

Jazz Money was discovered during a busking session by Dreamhouse Studios owner Adrian Gough during one of these busking sessions, leading to a longstanding and collaborative relationship with producer David Plowman. Working closely together, Jazz Money and Plowman set out to create a collaborative jazz/hip-hop album with all original music by the acoustic jazz trio. Drawing from their respective backgrounds - Plowman's experience as hip-hop artist and professional recording engineer, and Jazz Money from their collective experience in jazz and improvised music - the four artists are creating a truly unique take on the fusion of jazz and hip-hop.

Jazz Money is Chris Weatherstone (alto sax), Malcolm Connor (bass), and Jared Goldman (drums).
