Gregory, Roy and Bill oh my!

Speaking of powerful 1-2 punches, the Jane Mallett Theatre plays host to, not two, but three incredible jazz musicians when the Festival kicks off. Don't believe us? Just read some of the quotes these artists have been garnering.

"The next great male jazz singer" (NPR) whose songs have "the potential to be this century's new jazz standards" (Downbeat). Gregory Porter  - Friday, June 20.

"Hargrove's current band is an argument for timelessness" (NPR)... "whose band is plugged into 1960s hard-bop" (New York Times). Roy Hargrove Quintet - Friday, June 27.

"Bill Frisell has quietly been the most brilliant and unique voice to come along in jazz guitar since Wes Montgomery" (Stereophile).  His latest project explores music made in the wake of the birth of the Fender Telecaster guitar. Sharing new takes on old faves such as "Baja" and "Surfer Girl", he explores the music of Chuck Berry, Chet Atkins, Duane Eddy and more. Bill Frisell - GUITAR IN THE SPACE AGE -- Saturday, June 28.
