About the track
"This is my most recently released song, 'call him yellow' and it brings listeners into a relationship being held together by destructive comforts. This song explores the reasons we stay in situations not meant for us, and how wistful nostalgia can be the thing that causes us to settle for less. This line of introspection is one that takes up my mind and I wanted to let listeners in on that. Additionally, I had a hand in the production, all the songwriting and some of the instrumentation, so it highlights me an as overall artist and musician."

About the artist
Amaka Queenette is a 22-year-old Nigerian artist living in Pickering, Ontario. Pulling on experiences and sounds from her religious roots and music infused upbringing, Amaka is writing some of the finest Neo-soul/Alt R&B music coming out of the Toronto area.

In the summer of 2018, Amaka quietly released her first EP, Vacant, which was the perfect introduction to the mind and soul of this genre bending vocalist. Since then, highlights include: Canadian Music Festival 2019, hosting a showcase which sold out Lee's Palace in Toronto, making NOW Magazine’s list of “One’s to Watch” and by April 2020, in the eye of the pandemic, releasing a 2-track visual EP titled ‘Fleeting, Inconsequential’ - a project which invited listeners, in a quieter quarantined world, to have difficult conversations with themselves about love and life while Amaka's music held their hand through these introspective moments.

Closing out 2020, the singer received the 2020 SOCAN Young Songwriter’s Award and went on to performed at POP Montreal Fest; she was also featured on Bandcamp’s list of ‘The Best Soul of 2020’. In May, 2021, Amaka released ‘want you more’, which was added to many Apple Music and Spotify Editorial playlists, and has garnered over 100k streams.

This is an artist in a lane entirely her own and Amaka intends to be a household name.
