Alex Dean has been part of Canada’s music scene for 40 years. He is well respected as a jazz musician, composer, educator and doubler and is
equally at home playing in any style of music.

He has played and recorded with Gil Evans, Kenny Wheeler, Rob McConnell’s Boss Brass, Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole, Harry Connick Jr.,
Phil Nimmons, the Labarbera Brothers Big Band, Wide Mouth Mason, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Esprit Orchestra and the Brian Barlow Big Band The Al Henderson Quintet, Barry Elmes as well as leader of the Alex Dean Jazz Orchestra. While he played and recorded 10 records with the Boss Brass they were nominated for three Grammy awards and won one with singer Mel Tormè. Alex also recorded 3 records
with The Robb McConnell Tentet, which was nominated once for a Grammy and won the Canadian Juno award. He is also the Saxophonist on the video game Cuphead soundtrack that debuted at #1 on the Jazz Billboard charts in 2019.
