Aline Homzy is an award-winning violinist and composer. Her music has been played all over the world and most recently, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra selected one of her string pieces to be played. Aline is one of Canada’s finest jazz violinists and was recently nominated for the Toronto Emerging Jazz Artist Award.
Aline’s focus on community flourished when she was awarded the highest points (2018), for the TD Discovery Projects award. She presented a concert featuring 4 women-leaders who improvise in different styles for a sold-out show at the Canadian Music Centre. She started to understand how prohibitive the arts are to low-income families and individuals. Another aspect of this project was to highlight how improvising musicians rarely get paid a fair wage for their work. In 2019, Aline initiated and curated a “smashing-hit-of-a-music-series” at Sapori wine bar, highlighting women-instrumentalists and creating fair-pay opportunities for underrepresented musicians in her community. In 2021, Aline collaborated with her MP Julie Dzerowicz to showcase musicians in her political riding to offer sustenance to musicians and art for the public through her new series, Sounds Of Davenport.

Some artists that she has recorded with include David Occhipinti, Andrew Downing, Iskwé, The Weather Station, Amanda Tosoff and many more. She is also the leader of the string section for SymphRONica (2019 Juno-nominated), Maurizio Guarini’s “A Goblin’s Chamber Music”, De Bouche à oreille – série de spectacles francophone, and many other Toronto- based projects that record and perform in the city. Aline has also performed and/or recorded with international artists such as Munir Hossn (Brazil), Ed Sheeran (Great Britain), Danilo Perez (Panama), Cho Yongwon (South Korea), Mikko Hildèn (Sweden), amongst others. Aline has performed in halls and venues such as Koerner Hall, Massey Hall, The Glenn Gould Studio, the Burdock, the Great Hall, various stages for the TD International Toronto Jazz Festival, Festival international de jazz de Montréal, Stockholm International jazz festival, Daigu - South Korea- International Jazz Festival and many chamber-music and jazz-related concert series.
Aline will release her first album as a leader “Aline’s étoile magique” in 2022. She is also on her way to the Hambidge Artist residency, in Georgia later this year to work on new music.

Aline’s trio will present some upbeat original music and classics and will feature Michael Herring on bass and Julien Bradley-Combs on guitar.
