Maya Killtron, powerhouse multi-hyphenate and Canada’s Queen of Boogie. Her vibrant style and lush upbeat take on Modern Boogie and 80’s inspired funk have landed her features in Noisey, Earmilk, & Huffington Post. Singles and collaborations have appeared in episodes of Broad City, Kim’s Convenience & soundtracked collections for Swedish fashion house Gina Tricot. Her vinyl 12” and limited edition 7” vinyl have sold out to collectors and boutique record shops around the world. Maya’s records remind fanatics and newbies alike that Modern Boogie is not just a kitschy sub-genre of 80’s jeans and retro enthusiasts. It’s an entire culture of dance, music, music technology, and fashion.
In addition to her career as a solo artist she is a frequent recording collaborator, writer, producer & touring/performing violinist/vocalist for many Canadian and International artists including The Arkells, Polaris Prize winning Haviah Mighty, The Junos and is one of the voices of Eggo Waffles.
2022 saw the release of her sophomore album Persimmon. Singles featured in a variety of editorial playlists and vinyl is now available worldwide. Now Maya is set to mark her international showcase debut as part of Tallinn Music Week in Estonia.
The Music Performance Trust Fund is funded by the Recording Industries of North America and is independent of the American Federation of Musicians. The fund was established in 1948 as part of a landmark agreement between the AFM and the major record companies of the day. Current signatory labels include Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and Walt Disney Records.
