The Magnolia Brass Band of Toronto is a traditional New Orleans style street parade band, playing around southern Ontario for over forty years. If you ever saw the HBO series “Tremé” or the James Bond movie “Live and Let Die,” you’ve seen a brass band! New Orleans brass bands are led on parade by a Grand Marshal, who dances ahead of the band carrying the iconic umbrella.

The brass band tradition in New Orleans goes way back – brass bands have played at parades, festivals and every sort of party, since before the beginnings of jazz. The Magnolia Brass Band has performed often at New Orleans’ French Quarter Festival; and yes, they do play at funerals.
