Justin Gray

Justin Gray is a rising star acoustic and electric bass player, composer and band leader in the international music scene. His main influences include jazz, North Indian classical and contemporary music.

Spanish Harlem Orchestra

Now in its tenth year, the Grammy-winning Spanish Harlem Orchestra is one of the most formidable and authentic Latin jazz combos of the present day. Yet for all of its appeal and success with contemporary audiences, SHO’s success is actually rooted in the past. The 13-piece collective owes its front-line status to an unwavering respect for the music’s rich history and a tenacious adherence to the music’s enduring traditions.

Kabakuwo

Kabakuwo, a group whose name means "fantasticâ", created in 2007 by four musicians with a keen interest in Mandinka culture: Sadio Sissoko (Senegal) on percussion and vocals, Dieli Mori Tounkara (Mali) on kora and guitar, CÃdric Dind-Lavoie (Quebec) on double bass and electric bass, and Estelle Lavoie (Quebec) on kora and guitar. These four artists, all experienced in several African musical styles, took on the challenge of exploring traditional Mandinka music.

Brian Katz/Ernie Tollar
Brian Katz is widely acclaimed for his personal approach to playing modern jazz on the classical guitar and piano, and for his evocative compositions;

Saxophonist/bansuri flautist Ernie Tollar has an outstanding ability to synthesize diverse musical traditions.

KATZTOLLAR mostly performs original compositions in the “world jazz” genre: the music is rooted in the modern jazz tradition and extends outwards to embrace elements of Middle Eastern, East Indian, Classical and various folk traditions.

Suba Sankaran

DORA award-winning, twice JUNO-nominated world/fusion vocalist Suba Sankaran has effortlessly combined musical worlds, performing across North America, Europe and Asia with Autorickshaw, Trichy Sankaran, FreePlay Duo (with Dylan Bell) and Retrocity (80s a cappella revue), to name a few. Performance highlights include performing for Peter Gabriel, Nelson Mandela and Bishop Tutu.

Suba is in demand as a choral director, arranger, educator and composer. She has composed and produced music for theatre, film, radio and dance. Highlights include collaborations with Deepa Mehta and the CBC.

Pablo Menendez & Mezcla Cuban All Stars

Mezcla Cuban All Stars, under the direction of Pablo Menendez, has been a part of the sound-track of the Cuban music scene for the past twenty-five years. A jazz ensemble fusing Afro-Cuban rhythms with yoruba, salsa and rock, Mezcla's music is a genuine celebration of the culture and musical roots of the Pearl of the Antilles.

Edmar Castaneda

Edmar Castaneda Colombia harpist, was born in 1978, in Bogotá, Colombia. Since moving to the United States in 1994, Edmar has quite literally taken New York and the world stage by storm with the sheer force of his virtuosic command of the harp—revolutionizing the way audiences and critics alike consider an instrument commonly relegated to the “unusual category”. A master at realizing beautiful complexities of time, while skillfully drawing out lush colors and dynamic spirit.
