ZENESOUL (‘Zen-Soul’) is a 2022 Juno-nominated Soul artist from Brampton, Canada. Born in Nigeria, she began writing songs at 11 years old. Today, this love for writing plays a significant role in her music as she transports listeners with her lyrics, the clarity in her voice and the use of simple instrumentals. Incorporating R&B and Neo-soul into her art, Zenesoul creates a sound of her own.

In March 2019, Zenesoul released her first EP titled Worth. Including, Lost and fiery upbeat hit, “Pricey.” Later that year, she debuted Back to You, infusing Afro-beats into her signature soul sound. These projects gained the attention of one of Canada’s most prominent stages as Zenesoul performed at “This is Brampton: NXNE” music festival.

Zenesoul released “How It Feels” in early 2020. The single grabbed the attention of Rory Farrell from the Joe Budden Podcast and R&B Radar, along with multiple blog mentions. This allowed for the success of her following single, “Wasteman” in summer 2020, highlighted by Spotify with placements on major editorial playlists, further growing her audience.

In August 2020, ZENESOUL released her sophomore EP, “Coffee,” including the tragic ballad “Safe,” taking listeners through her experience with domestic abuse. Coffee demonstrated Zenesoul’s growth and skill in songwriting and composition. Coffee was featured on CTV Morning Live, EarMilk and several music blogs.

Leading up to her next release, Brown Sugar, Zenesoul released the project’s first single, “Love and Be Loved,” in early November 2020, featuring Aaron Ridge. The single quickly became her biggest hit, gaining almost 2,000,000 streams since release, featured on major Spotify and Apple Music playlists and radio stations across North America and Europe.

As her second single, That Love, released on March 12th, ZENESOUL began seeing critical acclaim for its refreshing sound. Lyrical Lemonade writes, “Zenesoul is making quite a bit of noise in the r&b world and has been supported by a large host of publications and editorial playlists thus far, and one listen will show you exactly why.” The single, also featured on RXMusic as Zenesoul was interviewed by Canadian music guru Master T.

On May 28th, 2021, Zenesoul launched her third project, “Brown Sugar,” and it landed an overwhelming public response, including a COMPLEX Premiere for the third single released with the project “Yourself.” The project garnered Mefeater Blog, EarMilk, LyricalLemonade, Celenix, Radar Magazine, Canadian Mag, Sounds So Beautiful, VOCALO Advertising Campaign, NewWave Magazine, The Blues Projects, The Urban Influence, The SingersRoom and Purple Revolver.

Ending 2021 on a high note, Zenesoul released one last single in November 2021. ‘Same Old Mistake” tells the story of Zenesoul finding herself trapped in an inner conflict of running back to a toxic lover. The single debuted on Vocalo with an interview and premiere of the single. The single also featured on CBC q, one of the largest radio platforms in Canada. The song aired during an anticipated exclusive interview with Adele, giving the track a perfect stage to shine.
Wrapping up February 2022, Zenesoul released her fiery single, Glowing. Speaking on the empowerment of owning your insecurities and loving the skin you’re in, regardless of its shade. The single was featured by Complex UK and Complex Canada as they write, “Zenesoul turns perfection on its head on her new single “Glowing,” which unabashedly proclaims that there is power in owning who you are.” The single premiered on over 20 editorial playlists across Apple Music, Amazon and Spotify, with Apple Music listing it in its Best New Songs on the R&B chart. In celebration of this release, she hosted her first concert and listening party with over 250 people in attendance, selling out the venue.
