Volunteering FAQ

Following are answers to specific questions you may have. After you have applied, you can find out more on the Volunteer Portal. We are also available by email at volunteers@tojazz.com
Who is this volunteer opportunity open to?
We are looking for individuals aged 18 and older, at every level of experience. Some assignments will require specific skills but many are entry-level opportunities. Those from outside the Toronto area are welcome, however travel and accommodation are not provided.
What roles are available to Volunteers?
We are looking for Festival Ambassadors, Volunteers at HQ, Hospitality Runners, Media Assistants, Logistics assistants, Liaisons, and Production Assistants. Full details will be shared with applicants throughout the volunteer program.
What is the time commitment for volunteering?
The festival runs from June 24 – July 3. Volunteers are required to commit to a minimum of three shifts during the event, and you are invited to sign up for many for a more fulsome volunteer experience
When will I find out if I am selected?
We will review applications and start to build the team once we have completed our recruitment outreach. Applicants will be updated on next steps in the process throughout the program.
When will I receive my schedule?
The volunteer recruitment and application process kicks off in March. Selected volunteers will gain access to the schedule to sign up throughout the month of May. We are pleased to offer self-scheduling through the interactive portal. You will have the opportunity to select the shifts of your choice based on availability at the time of scheduling.
Can I be scheduled at the same time as my spouse, friend, etc?
Great idea! Volunteers will have the opportunity to self-schedule from available shifts. If completed at the same time, you should be able to achieve this goal. Make sure to include the name of the person you want to volunteer with on your application. Missed telling us?  Send us a note at volunteers@tojazz.com
What are your COVID-19 protocols for volunteers?
The TD Toronto Jazz Festival will continue to follow provincial mandates and guidelines.
When is Volunteer Orientation?
We will be hosting an orientation meeting for all selected volunteers on June 17, 2023. It’s there that you will pick up your volunteer package (uniform and accreditation), meet the rest of the team and have the opportunity to ask questions to prepare for your volunteer experience.
What is the volunteer uniform?
Volunteers are provided with an official TD Toronto Jazz Festival t-shirt to be worn with pants, mid-thigh shorts or skirts and clean shoes. Volunteers are required to wear this uniform and their TD Toronto Jazz Festival accreditation lanyard while on duty unless otherwise directed.
How can I learn more?
Filling out an application doesn’t commit you to service. You can sign up to be updated on program details and TD Toronto Jazz Festival information while you decide if you want to participate. You are not considered a committed, confirmed volunteer until you have signed up for duty.
Have a question we haven’t answered? The FAQ above will be updated as festival details firm up. You can also reach us at:
